Going forward, I won't be surprised if more ministers start attending the business events with speaker engagement.
Nop, not being sarcastic.
Just sharing my observation. The audience which earlier wasn't accessible is now unlocked.
Here's my theory:
Reach = f {audience, message}
If you are like me,
you don't read newspaper and don't watch news debates.
No Cable. Radio in gym.
Have ad-free OTT + YouTube subscription. Watch cricket.
Commute by personal vehicle.
Not active on Insta or Facebook but active on LinkedIn & WhatsApp.
So how can a political party or member reach out to you and me with her/his message?
Until 3 days back, the channels were quite limited.
A hoarding at traffic signal or an ad during IPL or on radio.
LinkedIn ads are super expensive and political discussions are not encouraged here (like FB).
But now, this has changed.
This may be recency bias but I do not remember last time (including election results), a political party or member getting so much "free" coverage on this platform.
People agree or don't. That doesn't matter.
"Awareness" box is ticked, and how.
I am not an influencer and I don't know how to create viral content.
But looking at what transpired, the playbook will be pretty similar:
1. Attend the event.
2. Say something super contrarian or controversial for 2 min in a 10-15 mins speech.
Not too short that it misses context.
Not too long that it has to fight against attention span
.Just enough to get captured on mobile phone and get shared.
Rest, you're smart enough to visualise. :)
